Chattanooga’s public schools are run by Hamilton County Schools, which serves the city and the rest of Hamilton County. The district says it runs 76 schools for about 45,000 students, from pre-K through 12th grade. The district office is at 3074 Claude Ramsey Parkway; the main number is 423-498-7020.

School zones do not follow city limits. A Chattanooga address can be zoned to a school in East Ridge, Red Bank or unincorporated Ooltewah, and several schools with a Hixson, Harrison or Ooltewah mailing address sit inside the city. Check any address in the district’s School Zone Finder or the county’s school zone lookup map of the 2026-27 zones. For registration help, call the district’s Family Connection Center at 423-843-4799.

This page lists every district school whose campus is inside Chattanooga city limits, according to Census Bureau maps, plus the three high schools outside the city whose 2026-27 zones take in Chattanooga addresses. Magnet and choice schools take students from across the county through the district’s School Choice application, which the district says runs each year from Nov. 16 through Jan. 29. Each school’s name links to our page on it, with its principal, bell times, test results, feeder schools and calendar. Tables are in alphabetical order.
