Hamilton County Schools spring break 2027 is Monday, March 22, through Thursday, March 25. Friday, March 26, is the Good Friday holiday, and Monday, March 29, is a professional development day with no students, so most children are out for eight weekdays and go back Tuesday, March 30. Spring break camps

  • Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut St.: Spring Break Camp on March 22-26 and March 29, 2027, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (drop-off from 8:30 a.m., pick-up by 4 p.m.), for kindergarten through fifth grade, with aftercare from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The museum says its break camps are aligned to the Hamilton County Schools calendar. Campers bring a nut-free lunch and a water bottle. Camp details and registration.
  • Chattanooga Zoo, 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave.: fall, winter and spring break camps scheduled around the district calendar, typically for kindergarten through third grade, in groups of 12 to 16. The zoo says registration opens about two months before each session. Zoo camps, summercamp@chattzoo.org.
  • City of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors runs free seasonal break camps for ages 6 to 15, including Every Kid Outdoors, with fishing, canoeing, outdoor art and field trips. Call Kim Battle at 423-643-6052 for dates. Camps and teen activities.

  • Chattanooga Zoo: open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., last admission 4:30 p.m. The zoo notes that school groups visit most from March through May; late morning and afternoon are quieter. Active-duty military and veterans get in free. Hours and admission, 423-697-1322.
  • Creative Discovery Museum: open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, according to the museum.
  • Tennessee Aquarium: the River Journey and Ocean Journey buildings and the IMAX theater on the riverfront. Hours change by season; check the aquarium’s visit page before you go.
  • Ruby Falls and Lookout Mountain: a 260-foot elevator ride down to a cave trail and an underground waterfall, plus overlooks above. Ruby Falls.

  • Chattanooga Public Library: the Downtown, Eastgate, Northgate and South Chattanooga branches are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday; Avondale is open 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. All are closed Sundays. Locations and hours.
