What it is

The marathon is locally owned and was set up in 2016, according to its about page. The 26.2-mile course was designed by local distance runners and climbs about 1,200 feet in all, the marathon page says. The course is USATF certified, so a qualifying time counts for the Boston Marathon, according to the FAQ.

How the weekend ran in 2026

From the organizers’ race week notice and FAQ:

Day What happened
Friday Expo and packet pickup, 3 to 7 p.m., First Horizon Pavilion
Saturday Expo 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Chattanooga 5K at 9 a.m.; kids fun run at 11 a.m.
Sunday Marathon, relay and half marathon start together at 7:30 a.m.; last-minute packet pickup from 5:30 a.m.

The kids race is a flat 1-mile loop around the stadium, and parents can run alongside without registering. There is no race-day registration for the marathon, relay or half marathon; you must pick up a packet, with a photo ID, at the expo. The 2027 schedule will be posted on the schedule page.

Finley Stadium offers free parking all weekend, the organizers say; a lot-by-lot athlete parking map is on the race site. Do not park along the route, and there is no parking on the south side of the First Horizon Pavilion at any point in the weekend. The organizers also suggest Bike Chattanooga bikes and CARTA buses for getting around downtown on race morning.
